Sharjah 24: As part of its ongoing commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for the educational process, Sharjah’s security authorities have intensified their field presence with the start of the 2025–2026 academic year. This initiative is part of a comprehensive plan aimed at enhancing traffic safety and ensuring the smooth and safe arrival of students to schools.

Emphasis on collaborative efforts

His Excellency Brigadier Dr Ahmed Al Naour, Director General of the General Department of Community Prevention and Protection, highlighted that the beginning of the academic year is a critical period requiring coordinated efforts among all relevant stakeholders. He commended the role of educational institutions and parents for their adherence to traffic regulations and positive cooperation with security teams, which has contributed to the success of safety and awareness initiatives.

Importance of community cooperation

Brigadier Al Naour stressed that community engagement is a cornerstone of maintaining a secure educational environment. He urged all parties to continue this collaborative spirit to ensure the safety of students and society, thereby strengthening the overall efforts to protect lives and property.

Prioritising student and staff safety

His Excellency Brigadier General Omar Al Ghazal, Director General of Operations and Security Support, reaffirmed that student and staff safety remains a top priority. He noted that police departments have implemented field plans, including deploying traffic patrols at major intersections, increasing surveillance around schools, and managing traffic during peak hours to prevent congestion.

Enhancing traffic flow around schools

Brigadier Al Ghazal added that the Traffic and Patrols Department has activated checkpoints and issued guidance along key and secondary roads leading to schools. Special attention is being given to school bus lanes to ensure efficient traffic flow and student safety.

Securing key locations and school access

The Operations and Security Patrols Department is also focused on securing busy areas and school zones by coordinating closely with education authorities to manage student entry and exit. Measures are in place to avoid overcrowding and prevent unsafe behavior.

Public urged to follow safety guidelines

Sharjah Police General Command called on all road users to strictly follow traffic safety instructions and cooperate with law enforcement officers. The public is urged to call 901 for general inquiries or non-emergency situations, and 999 for emergencies.
