Hearts connected to mosques
The highlight of the programmes was the second edition of the “Hearts Hanging on Mosques” initiative, held from 4 to 22 August in more than 45 mosques across the emirate. The programme attracted significant participation from youth and families, promoting connection to mosques through integrated lessons that included memorisation and interpretation of selected Quranic chapters, explanations of selected Hadiths, as well as jurisprudential and behavioural topics relevant to young people. Educational and interactive activities were conducted in a safe environment under the supervision of qualified imams and teachers.
Comprehensive courses for students and girls
Other summer initiatives included an intensive student course covering Islamic sciences and literature, focusing on purification and prayer jurisprudence, interpretation of selected Quranic chapters, lessons from the Prophet’s biography, and the virtues of knowledge. Activities also incorporated reading and cultural exercises within mosque libraries. The girls’ programme “Teach Me My Religion” simplified religious concepts and instilled ethical values using modern educational methods, interactive workshops, and creative activities that encouraged expression and engagement.
Commitment to sustainable educational development
The Department emphasised that these programmes form part of its educational and community mission to develop individuals, directing youth energies toward beneficial pursuits. The focus on Islamic identity, moral awareness, and ethical values remained central across all activities. The authority underlined its dedication to providing comprehensive programmes that combine religious education, community awareness, and constructive recreation, aligning with the leadership’s vision to promote sustainable development rooted in values and identity. The success of this year’s summer programmes reflects community trust in the Department’s initiatives and its leading role in nurturing youth and strengthening the role of mosques as centres of knowledge and guidance.
