Sharjah24: The Sharjah Football Club is organizing a football tournament named after the late Abdul Rahim Jani, taking place from March 14 to 16 at the subfields of Sharjah Stadium and Khalid bin Mohammed Stadium. This event will feature the club's teams, honoring his long career and significant contributions to Emirati football, while commemorating his memory.
Opening ceremony
The opening ceremony, scheduled for next Friday in the VIP Hall at Sharjah Stadium, will be attended by prominent figures from Emirati football, former players of Sharjah Club, sports officials, family members of the late Jani, and the club's coaching and administrative staff. An organizing committee has been formed to oversee the tournament, chaired by Dr. Ibrahim Khalil.

Abdul Rahim Jani: A 56-Year career in football
Abdul Rahim Jani began his sports career in 1968 as a player for Sharjah Club before moving to administrative roles within the club and later the UAE Football Association. He held several prominent sports positions, including Director of the national football team during their historic participation in the 1990 World Cup in Italy, and he managed the team in three editions of the Asian Cup.

A pivotal role
The late Jani was known for his crucial role in developing Emirati football and his dedication to nurturing emerging talents, achieving numerous local and international sports accomplishments.

The Club's tribute to its icons
The club's management emphasised that this tournament reflects the club's loyalty to its icons who contributed to its elevation and development. They noted that the event will be a unique sports and social occasion, bringing together club members and the football community in a celebratory atmosphere.

Closing ceremony
The event will conclude next Sunday with the crowning of the winning teams and honoring participants, in a finale worthy of the name Abdul Rahim Jani and his significant contributions to Emirati football.
