Sharjah 24: Al Hamriyah Municipality conducted a successful mock evacuation exercise for all its staff, visitors and customers.

The exercise aimed to train staff for immediate and organised evacuation, and to exit the building as quickly as possible in the event of an emergency, in a way that preserves the safety of lives and property, and reduces the impact of potential risks.

Dealing with emergency situations
The exercise that took place, on Tuesday, reflected Al Hamriyah Municipality's commitment to confronting crises and disasters, business continuity, and measuring the readiness of work teams and their ability to deal with various emergency situations effectively and quickly, within the framework of the strategies adopted by the municipality to ensure the continuity of providing vital services to the community without being affected by unexpected events.

Employees’ safety comes first
The exercise consolidated the efforts of Al Hamriyah Municipality and its keenness to place the health and safety of its employees and visitors at the forefront, and the essence of the municipality's institutional values, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, security and occupational health in workplaces and public facilities affiliated with the municipality, especially since Al Hamriyah Municipality adopts a variety of initiatives and preventive exercises to proactively deal with different cases, in coordination and cooperation with the relevant authorities. 
Mira Thani Al Shamsi, Head of the Development and Strategic Planning Department at the Miunicipality, said that the evacuation exercise is a vital tool in assessing the municipality's ability to confront crises and manage them efficiently. it indicated that all employees were keen to follow the instructions and guidelines approved in such cases, as the movement of the participants and their reactions in the evacuation process were monitored throughout the exercise , and the implementation of the tasks assigned to each party to carry out the process was followed up, and all necessary devices and equipment were available to confront such cases. 

A business continuity plan
Al Shamsi pointed out that the evacuation exercise is an essential part of the business continuity system that Al Hamriyah Municipality seeks to implement, which aims to maintain the provision of vital services to the community, in the face of crises and disasters, by developing plans to ensure that work proceeds normally or semi-normally during emergency conditions, while limiting their impact on daily operations. 

His Excellency Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, indicated that implementing the exercise comes as a practical application of the highest standards of public safety and emergency and evacuation plans that the municipality implements periodically with the aim of educating the municipality's work teams from various departments and sections about security and safety procedures. It also aims at confronting risks in emergency and crisis situations, and also ensuring the efficiency of the existing protective and safety equipment, in addition to developing the skills and capabilities of employees on how to deal immediately and optimally with emergency scenarios and reduce the losses that may result from them if they occur.

Al Shamsi explained that Al Hamriyah Municipality includes these evacuation exercise s within the business continuity plan in emergency and crisis situations, as part of the municipality’s commitment to raising awareness and exercise al knowledge of security and safety procedures, in addition to enhancing the capabilities of employees and workers to confront risks and raise the level of readiness to deal with all emergency circumstances.
