Al Hamriyah wins competition in “Our Distinguished Holiday”

Sharjah24: Al Hamriyah Club claimed first place in the traditional games competition held at Al Madam Cultural and Sports Club as part of the fourth week of the Sharjah Sports Summer Program, "Our Distinguished Holiday," under the theme, "I am an athlete." The Sharjah Sports Council supervised the event, which attracted participation from various sports and specialised clubs. Al Bataeh secured second place, while Al Maliha and Al Madam clubs shared third. The contest featured seven heritage games: coffee preparation, Al-Yuwani, carrom, Al-Razfa, Al-Yola, tug of war, and poetic recitation.

The event was attended by Sultan Mohammed Howaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of Al Madam Club; Bakhit Saeed Al Qurs, Director of Sports and Community Events at Sharjah Sports Council and head of the summer programme committee; Suhail Salem, head of the club’s summer activities; Sheikh Khalid bin Faisal Al Qasimi, a member of the supervisory committee; and several other members.

Bakhit Al Qurs praised the spirited participation and noted that including traditional games helps preserve cultural heritage. He also commended Al Madam Club for its excellent organisation and enjoyable atmosphere.

Participating clubs included Al Madam, Al Hamriyah, Al Bataeh, Dibba Al Hisn, Khor Fakkan, Mileiha, Sharjah Sports Club, Sharjah Classic Cars Club, Kalba, Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club, and Al Dhaid.
