Sharjah 24: Sharjah Women's Sports (SWS) concluded the “Get Set” initiative, held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Sharjah Olympic Centre for Women's Sports, with the participation of 70 women of different age groups and nationalities, in an inspiring community sports atmosphere.
The event was part of the preparations for the 10th Edition of the Sharjah Women's Run 2025, and achieved great success in enhancing the participants' self-confidence and preparing them from all psychological, physical and health aspects to participate in the race scheduled for February 15.

A comprehensive preparatory experience

The event started at 9:00 am with a series of distinguished activities, including a 2-kilometre preliminary race, awareness sessions on healthy nutrition, in addition to specialised training for mental and physical preparation. Participants also benefited from free medical services included measuring blood pressure and blood sugar levels, in addition to guidance on how to avoid sports injuries, which contributed to raising awareness of the importance of taking care of the body during exercise.

Participants expressed their happiness at participating in “Get Set” initiative as many of them confirmed that the event helped them gain confidence and complete readiness to take on the next challenge. One of them indicated that “Get Set” initiative was a wonderful experience that the necessary tools to start strongly in the Sharjah Women’s Run, both physically and psychologically.

A community sports atmosphere that enhances the culture of physical activity

The atmosphere of the event reflected the spirit of community interaction, as it saw the attendance of participants from more than 20 different nationalities. Participants also expressed their appreciation for the organisational efforts that provided them with a smooth and integrated experience, starting from registration and receiving numbers, through awareness sessions and physical training, and ending with the collective start of the preliminary race.

In this context, Noura Al Hamar, Head of Community Sports at the Foundation, stated that “Get Set” initiative is part of our vision to promote women's sports not only as preparation for a single race, but as a means to empower women athletically and socially. She added that SWS aims to build a sustainable culture that encourages women to adopt physical activity as a lifestyle, and enhances their knowledge of the important health and physical aspects of practicing sports.

A distinctive conclusion and motivation for the next stages

With the start of the event, participants expressed their increasing enthusiasm to participate in the tenth edition of Sharjah Women's Run with greater confidence, after acquiring new skills and enhancing their physical and mental readiness. Sharjah Women's Sports affirms its continuous commitment to providing quality sports initiatives that enhance women's presence in the sports arena, and consolidate Sharjah's position as a leading destination in supporting women's sports.

The integration between SWS and Sharjah Ladies Club reflects an ideal model of cooperation aimed at empowering women athletically and socially. Through “Get Set” initiative, participants received a comprehensive preparatory experience, while Sharjah Ladies Club is preparing to welcome them in the tenth edition of the Sharjah Ladies Run, reflecting a shared vision to provide an integrated sports environment that enhances self-confidence and promotes a culture of continuity in practicing sports.

The tenth edition of Sharjah Women’s Run, which will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, attracts hundreds of participants of different ages and nationalities, contributing to raising health awareness and encouraging the community to adopt physical activity as a lifestyle, in a supportive environment that stimulates continuity and excellence.
