Sharjah Women’s Club archery team ends season with honours

Sharjah24: Sharjah Women Sports Club concluded its archery season with a commendable performance at the UAE Archery Federation Cup, held on 31 May and 1 June 2025 at Mleiha Sports Club in Sharjah. The championship saw participation from a number of several clubs, including Fujairah Martial Arts Club, Abu Dhabi Archery Club, D'Archers Club, and Mushrif Academy.

Notable achievements across categories

In the recurve bow under-15 girls’ category, Samia Odineva clinched the gold medal while setting a new national record of 572 points. Maha Al Shamsi secured the silver medal.

In the recurve bow under-12 girls’ category, Alya Faisal won the silver, while Salama Al Ali took third place and the bronze medal.

In the compound bow under-12 girls’ category, the club’s players dominated the podium: Mouza Rashid Al Shamsi won gold, Shamma Rashid Al Shamsi took silver, and Alya Issam Al Shamsi claimed bronze.

In the recurve under-18 category, Widad Abdullah Al Zarouni earned the silver medal, followed by Marwa Omar Al Serkal who won bronze.

In the compound under-21 category, Amina Yousif Al Awadhi secured the gold medal, while Maitha Mohammed Al Nuaimi earned the bronze.

In the recurve women’s category, Sniehal Devkar took home the gold, followed by Fatima Mohammed Al Baloushi with silver, and Hessa Yaqoub Al Awadhi with bronze.

Technical director’s statement

At the close of the season, Elena Lapsina, technical director of the archery team at Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, expressed her pride in the achievements of the players, stating:

“This championship was the final stop in a long and busy local season, and we are happy to end it with such a high level of performance and results. What was achieved throughout the season reflects the extent of progress our athletes have made, and their commitment to training and competitions all year long.”

She added: “The work doesn’t stop with the end of the local season. We are already preparing for upcoming international participations and setting new development plans for the next season. Our ambition is to continue achieving more both locally and internationally.”

She concluded by thanking the club’s management, the technical and medical staff, and the players’ families for their ongoing support, affirming that the successes of this season are the result of collective and integrated efforts.
