Sharjah24: The Sharjah Women's Sports Clubs, along with Khorfakkan and Kalba Women's Sports Clubs, concluded their participation in the 5th Arab Taekwondo Cup, held from February 5 to 7, 2025. Their performances showcased the continuous development of the athletes, highlighting their progress and preparation throughout the seasons. The intensive training camps before the tournament played a vital role in enhancing the athletes' skills and boosting their confidence for the competition.
Outstanding performances
The athletes from the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation stood out in the junior category. Yumna Yasser from Sharjah Women's Sports Club secured the gold medal in the 37 kg weight class, while Salma Ahmed earned silver in the 59 kg category. Rania Mohammed added a bronze medal in the 55 kg weight class, and Haya Tamam secured another bronze in the 44 kg category. From Khorfakkan, Dana Khamees won a bronze in the 59 kg weight class. Maria Badr, also from Sharjah Women's Sports Club, represented the UAE team and took home the bronze in the 37 kg category.
In the women’s category, Sheikha Al Tunaiji from Kalba won the bronze medal in the 42 kg weight class. Amina Al Logani, also from Kalba and representing the UAE team, earned the silver medal in the 68 kg category.
Coach’s reflection
Abdullah Hatim, the technical director of Taekwondo at Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, commented on the success, stating, "The achievements in the Arab Cup reflect the hard work and efforts made in both physical and tactical preparation. The international camp held recently played a key role in enhancing the athletes' readiness, sharpening their skills, and preparing them to adapt to different playing styles, which was evident in their performance."
He added, "This edition of the tournament saw strong participation from various Arab countries, and the competition levels were very high. All teams entered the competition in peak readiness. This type of competition offers our athletes an ideal opportunity to test their level in a real competitive environment, gaining valuable experience for future international events."
