Sharjah 24: Athletes from Sharjah Women’s Sports Club and Kalba Women’s Sports Club took part in the UAE Judo Cup for age categories, organised by the UAE Judo Federation on Saturday, 17 May 2025. The competition was held at the Baniyas sports hall and saw participation from four clubs across the Emirates: Kalba Women's Sports Club, Sharjah Women's Sports Club, Fujairah Martial Arts Club, and Abu Dhabi Sports Club.

Kalba Women's Sports Club secures 20 medals

Kalba Women Sports Club made a remarkable impression at the tournament with 20 athletes competing in the juniors and cadets categories.

In the juniors category, the club won three gold medals through Maha Jasem Abdullah, Aisha Hassan Musbah, and Salma Abdulrahman Al Ansari. They also secured five silver medals by Hiyam Ali Khamis, Hoor Najib Suleiman, Sarah Jawhar Musbah, Al Reem Ahmed Saeed, and Aya Adnan Saeed, in addition to a bronze medal from Maryam Ahmed Al Barout.

In the cadets category, Kalba’s athletes continued to shine, earning six gold medals through Nada Rashid Hamed, Dana Ali Khamis, Sumayya Ahmed Mohammed, Al Reem Abdullah Khalaf, Hoor Yousef Khamis, and Hessa Abdullah Bilal. The team added three silver medals won by Al Reem Mohammed Bin Haneef, Maitha Mohammed Abdulwahab, and Wedema Obaid Ahmed, along with two bronze medals claimed by Aisha Saeed Khalaf and Noor Sultan Mohammed.

The final medal count for Kalba stood at 20: 9 gold, 8 silver, and 3 bronze.

Sharjah Women's Sports Club earns five medals

Sharjah Women Sports Club was represented by five junior athletes, each of whom earned a medal. Hoor Waleed Ali took gold in the -70 kg category. Silver medals were secured by Amina Yousef Mohammed Al Mazmi (-36 kg), Al Yaziya Hamad Abdullah (-40 kg), and Mira Ahmed Ibrahim (-52 kg), while Aisha Ali Hassan (-40 kg) took bronze.

All participants from Sharjah are enrolled in the Sports Incubator Project, launched by Sharjah Women Sports Foundation in collaboration with Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, through Sharjah Children. This initiative provides an integrated training environment for young girls in their early development stages, demonstrating the foundation’s dedication to advancing the programme and ensuring collaborative efforts for optimal results.

Club official highlights players’ development

Mai Al Amri, Deputy Director of Sharjah Women Sports Club, praised the athletes’ performances, saying: “Our players gave an exceptional showing at the UAE Judo Cup, reflecting serious preparation and strong competitive spirit. The results achieved in both juniors and cadets highlight the effectiveness of our development efforts and motivate us to continue pushing for greater achievements in future competitions.”
