Friends of Arthritis Patients prepares for 12th Annual Marathon

Sharjah24: The "Friends of Arthritis Patients" , under the Health Education Department of the Sharjah Supreme Council for Family Affairs, announces its readiness to launch the 12th Annual Marathon on Sunday, February 9, at 3:30 PM. The event, themed "Movement is Life, and Life is Movement," will include various activities such as entertainment, marine and sports shows, and interactive initiatives aimed at raising community awareness about health, social, and humanitarian activities, as well as highlighting arthritis and supporting patients facing daily challenges.
Accompanying events
In addition to the marathon, a scientific day will be organized featuring prominent rheumatologists, nutritionists, health specialists, and athletes through a Teams platform titled "Learn and Move: Combining Knowledge and Activity." Dr. Zaid Al-Rawi discussed arthritis and treatment methods, while Dr. Hayat Hasan provided tips to avoid joint-related injuries during exercise. Dietitian Malak Atwat spoke about nutrition's role in joint diseases, and physiotherapist Mona Radwan shared insights on the importance of physical therapy and rehabilitation.

Marathon details
Wahida Abdulaziz, Chairwoman of the Friends of Arthritis Patients Association, stated that this annual marathon is a significant sports event in our beloved emirate, featuring five stages based on participants' ages and physical abilities. The first stage is a 1-kilometer walk for participants aged two and up, while the second stage is a 2.5-kilometer run for ages eight and above. The third stage, a 5-kilometer run, is for ages 13 and up, and the fourth stage is a 10-kilometer run for ages 16 and above. The final stage is a 21-kilometer run for ages 16 and above, with winners in each category receiving prizes and financial rewards.

Community participation
The "12th Marathon" is expected to see wide community participation and will continue to achieve successes, reinforcing its position as one of the most important health awareness events regarding arthritis in the country.
