Rubu’ Qarn launches an Interactive Reading Platform for Children

Sharjah 24: In an effort to enrich the cultural scene and enhance the passion for reading among children and youth, Rubu’ Qarn for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators announced the launch of the “Qarn Reader” (Century Reader) platform.

The platform targets children and youth, aged 6 to 18 years, to empower them in the field of literature and knowledge and enhance their active role in society, and encourage them to enjoy reading books and benefit from their content, which ensures an enjoyable and useful educational experience.

Through its platform, the foundation aims to provide an opportunity for reading enthusiasts, by reading a variety of books that suit their preference, age and areas of interest, and enhance their abilities for self-assessment, critical and creative thinking, and develop their interest in reading and enrich their thinking and cognitive ambition.

The platform is distinguished by selecting its books based on suggestions from children and young people from the members of the Rubu’ Qarn institutions, represented by Sharjah Children, Sharjah Youth and Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, through a series of programmes and activities organised for them by the institution through social media platforms and its libraries spread across its various centres in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The platform also enables participants to identify the locations of different books, whether in public libraries or specialised stores, which contributes to encouraging reading and knowledge.

"Participation in the platform is based on a set of conditions, the most prominent of which are that participants must be a UAE national or resident within the age group of 6-18 years, and that they must create an account for on the platform, in addition to reading the largest number of books provided by the platform and evaluating it by adding a video clip explaining this without the help of a guardian.

Participants who finish reading a certain number of books receive distinctive badges in appreciation of their achievements, as the participant who succeeds in reading 25 books receives the "Explorer" badge, while the one who reads 50 books receives the Adventurer badge, the Thinker for those who read 75 books, and finally the Reader for those who successfully read 100 books.

Khawla Sharif Al Hawai, Director of Sharjah Children Foundation, stated that the platform comes as part of the ongoing efforts and plans aimed at enhancing the importance of reading, which is one of the essential foundations for developing thought and creativity among children and young people.

She added that Rubu’ Qarn Foundation works to organise many initiatives and activities that aim to encourage members to explore the world of books and literature, and offers a special track for literature and languages.

Al Hawai added that the platform, seeks to enhance the love of reading as a daily habit, and contribute to shaping the personalities of children and young people and increasing their cultural awareness.

Al Hawai added that children and youth are invites to participate in the platform and display their creativity that reflects their passion for reading.  She confirmed that Rubu’ Qarn looks forward to the support of writers, authors and publishers to meet the needs of this generation and provide literary content that suits their interests and needs.

The Director of Sharjah Children Foundation stressed that the platform contributes to achieving the Foundation’s vision of building a generation of readers and creators who contribute significantly to enriching literary and cognitive culture, and consolidate their position in the world of literature and reading, a generation capable of contributing to the development of its society.
