Sharjah 24: Brigadier Ahmed Haji Al Sarkal, Director General of Police Operations at Sharjah Police, inaugurated the "My Family is My Biggest Wealth 2024" exhibition on Thursday at City Centre Al Zahia Sharjah.
Organised by the Anti-Narcotics Department in collaboration with the Security Media Department, the exhibition aims to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and highlight the crucial role of families in protecting children from addiction. The exhibition will run until November 21.
The opening ceremony was attended by Brigadier Ibrahim Musabah Al Ajil, Deputy Director General of Police Operations, Colonel Majid Al Asam, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department, and other police officials.
During his tour, Brigadier Al Sarkal was briefed on the exhibition's interactive displays, including a simulation of an addict's room, designed to raise awareness about behavioural and environmental indicators that could signal addiction risks.
The exhibition also provides insights into key legal provisions, such as Federal Law by Decree No. (30) of 2021 On Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, which allows for voluntary treatment without legal penalties for addicts, and facilitates family-led intervention. Additionally, Article 64 focuses on penalties related to the illegal transfer of money for purchasing narcotics.
Brigadier Al Sarkal emphasised the importance of family involvement in preventing drug abuse, stating that the exhibition serves as a platform to educate the public on drug prevention and promote family cohesion. He also highlighted Sharjah Police's ongoing efforts to foster community awareness and protect society from the dangers of drugs.
Colonel Al Asam underscored the significance of the exhibition as part of Sharjah Police's broader strategy to combat drug abuse, providing parents with the tools to identify warning signs and support their children effectively. The exhibition also features educational workshops and sessions aimed at strengthening the psychological and social resilience of young people.
Community members are encouraged to visit the exhibition at City Centre Al Zahia Sharjah to engage with the awareness activities and learn effective strategies to protect their families and society from the dangers of drugs.
