Sharjah24: The Municipality of Al Hamriyah launched its winter campaign "Winter is More Beautiful in Al Hamriyah" over two days, with participation from the Sharjah Environment and Natural Reserves Authority and the Community Police Department.
The campaign, which kicked off two days ago, is part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts in public awareness, guidance, and promoting public safety and security for its various facilities during the winter season, with a focus on Al Hamriyah Beach and Al Hamriyah Beach Park, which attract a large number of community members, visitors, and tourists.

The campaign, held over the weekend, saw wide participation from visitors to the beach park, benefiting a total of 5,546 participants. The staff at the Municipal Inspection and Control Department organised interactive competitions for children accompanying their families at Al Hamriyah Beach, aimed at testing the public’s knowledge of correct environmental behaviors and promoting environmental preservation. The campaign also highlighted the municipality’s sustainability efforts, including demonstrations on how to properly extinguish BBQ coals in desert areas without harming the environment.

The campaign's goal was to raise awareness about common behaviours in winter, such as the harmful effects of littering in non-designated areas, the safe disposal of burning BBQ coals, and spreading a culture of environmental sustainability. It also aimed to promote proper behaviours toward the environment.

The campaign, organised by the Municipality's Legal Affairs Department, included a range of educational activities, workshops for children, and sessions on how to avoid environmental violations. There were also notable contributions from various government departments, with the municipality distributing prizes to visitors.

The Sharjah Environment and Natural Reserves Authority participated with two workshops: "Coloured Bags" and "Bookmarks," which were enthusiastically received by visitors at the beach park. The Authority also organised educational and recreational games, such as the "Picture Matching" game and the "Question Box," on the event stage.

The Community Police Department performed a theatrical show and a children's storytelling session that focused on the importance of following beach environmental guidelines, preserving the environment, and maintaining natural habitats.

The Sharjah Institute for Heritage organised an exhibition showcasing the country’s marine and desert life, along with a display of traditional dolls, and heritage-themed games and competitions for children on stage. The Al Hamriyah Municipality team also held entertaining workshops for children, featuring activities titled "Winter Hat" and "My Penguin Friend," alongside interactive games and prize distributions.

Campaign supervisors for "Winter is More Beautiful in Al Hamriyah" stated that a variety of events were organized for children, including motivational competitions, recreational activities, and competitive programs aimed at developing children’s skills, boosting social abilities, and encouraging creativity and innovation. These activities also helped children understand the importance of proper environmental behaviours while enjoying the winter beach atmosphere with their families.

Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, explained that the municipality is achieving its goals for the campaign by reinforcing environmental preservation concepts among visitors to Al Hamriyah Beach Park. The campaign encourages adopting a culture of sustainability through awareness messages and activities that promote eco-friendly practices.

Al Shamsi added that the municipality continues its community-focused initiatives during the winter season, engaging various segments of society and motivating them to preserve the environment and adhere to public safety measures while visiting Al Hamriyah Beach. He also highlighted ongoing environmental and awareness efforts aimed at reducing harmful environmental practices and providing guidance and advice during official holidays and public vacations for all targeted groups, fostering environmental and social responsibility.

Al Shamsi emphasised the importance of community involvement and cooperation in efforts to preserve the environment, which enhances responsibility toward protecting marine and coastal natural resources. He noted that such efforts support the municipality’s vision for sustainable development and a brighter future, promoting positive practices that directly increase environmental awareness, improve beach quality, and reinforce the culture of sustainability, ensuring a long-term positive impact for future generations.
