The installation of water conservation pieces and tools was also completed in 88 mosques in the city of Khorfakkan and the city of Kalba, where 822 conservation pieces were installed, saving approximately 6 million gallons of water annually.
Rashid Al Marzouqi, Director of the Corporate Communications Department, explained that SEWA, in coordination and cooperation with the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah, is keen on performing periodic follow-up and evaluation of the results of installing conservation pieces and tools in mosques, and ensuring the effectiveness and sustainability of these tools with new conservation pieces. He added that all water conservation pieces that are installed in mosques at a flow rate of 2 litres per minute according to the specifications of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MOIAT) and contribute to saving 69% of the water used in ablution.
Ahmed Al Mahdar, Head of the Rationalisation Department at SEWA, confirmed that the technical teams in the Rationalisation Department inspected and audited the mosques in which water rationalisation parts and tools were installed during the past period, to inspect the water rationalisation parts and tools, perform the necessary maintenance for these parts, and replace the damaged ones.
Al Mahdar added that the Rationalisation Department at SEWA continues the audit procedures on the new mosques in the Emirate of Sharjah before the final water connection process to ensure that contractors and consultants are implementing the rationalisation requirements.
