Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) concluded the "Engineer of the Future" camp.

The camp was organised by SEWA from July 7–17, 2025, at the Women's Union Association headquarters in Halwan whereas eighty-five male and female students aged 12–14 participated in the camp.

During the closing ceremony, collaborating entities and participants were honoured and presented with shields and certificates of participation.

Promising professional future

Rashid Al Marzouqi, Director of the Media and Communications Department at SEWA, explained, in his speech at the closing ceremony, that the camp achieved its goal of preparing students for a promising professional future, equipping them with the necessary technical skills, and introducing them to the Authority's efforts to produce, desalinate, transport, and distribute water, as well as the pioneering natural gas network project covering large areas of the Emirate of Sharjah.

A variety of purposeful activities and programmes

This was achieved through a variety of purposeful activities and programmes. Free time was utilised to develop skills, allowing participants to enjoy their time during the summer vacation.

Introducing sustainable and renewable energy sources

The camp also fostered students’ creative and innovative skills, enhancing their energy capabilities and introducing them to sustainable and renewable energy sources, conservation methods and behaviours, and safety and security measures in energy use.

Al Marzouqi added that SEWA continues to organise specialised activities to develop the skills and knowledge of students, stemming from the Authority's ongoing efforts to serve the community, raise awareness of the importance of optimal use of energy and water, and explore new and innovative developments, all within the framework of its firm belief in the importance of shaping the personalities of young people and supporting their various abilities and talents.

Specialised workshops

Saif Al Naqbi, Head of the Education and Awareness Department, pointed out that the camp's workshops contributed to enhancing participants' awareness through nine workshops.

The workshops also included field visits to conservation platforms to learn about the means and methods of installing conservation tools, and a recreational trip to the Burj Khalifa.

Al Naqbi added that the field and recreational visits organised as part of the camp's activities instilled positive behaviours among participants and contributed to raising awareness of landmarks and tourist sites.

The camp is a model of social responsibility

Participants praised the programme's excellent organisation, the useful and diverse workshops it included, and the services the Authority provided throughout the camp, demonstrating its commitment to their future, security, and safety.

Honouring

Participating and cooperating entities were honoured, including the Women's Union Association, which provided logistical services; Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), which provided volunteers who contributed to the camp's success; and the Sharjah Cooperative Society.
