Achieving sustainability
Majid Hureimel Al Shamsi, Executive Director of Corporate Support Services at SEWA, explained that the Home Conservation Initiative contributes to rationalising consumption, reducing bills for beneficiaries, and achieving sustainability. It has contributed to a 63% reduction in water consumption and a 55% reduction in lighting consumption in previous phases implemented by the authority.
Positive results
Al Shamsi emphasised the Authority's continued commitment to expanding the beneficiary base of the Home Rationalisation Initiative, launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to retrofit homes with modern electricity and water-saving technologies. This initiative has achieved significant positive results in rationalising consumption and reducing utility bills.
Al Shamsi pointed out that the new phase of the Home Rationalisation Initiative, which benefits recipients of the Inflation Allowance in the Emirate of Sharjah, has begun. The installation of energy-saving tools and equipment in beneficiaries' homes has been completed, and work teams have begun work in several areas.
Disseminating rationalisation concept
Rashid Al Marzouqi, Director of the Media and Communication Department at SEWA, added that the initiative is not limited to installing energy-saving tools and equipment, but rather aims to educate families and domestic workers on the correct methods and behaviours for rationalising electricity and water consumption through several initiatives, including "Rationalisation in Your Hands," "Educate Them," "Be a Guide," "Rationalisation of Tomorrow's Generations," and "We Can Change."
Al Marzouqi stressed that SEWA is keen to activate cooperation and coordination with all parties to expand the base of beneficiaries of the Home Rationalisation Initiative in the Emirate of Sharjah, and to provide the latest technologies and solutions to rationalise energy and water consumption, installing them in the homes of beneficiary families, and
educating them on how to use and maintain energy-saving devices effectively. The impact of the initiative will be evaluated periodically to ensure it achieves its desired objectives.
