Sharjah 24: Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA), through its Electricity Distribution Department, is continuing its large-scale project to replace outdated mechanical electricity meters with advanced smart meters. This initiative forms part of SEWA’s comprehensive development strategy aimed at enhancing network efficiency and improving service quality.
Since the launch of the project, over 181,000 smart meters have been installed across Sharjah city, with 4,000 replaced in 2025 alone—demonstrating SEWA’s ongoing commitment to modernisation.

Engineer Ahmed Al Bass, Deputy Director of the Electricity Distribution Department, stated that the technical teams are replacing the old meters with new, highly accurate devices that meet the latest international standards. This upgrade aligns with SEWA’s digital transformation goals and its mission to provide reliable and sustainable services to customers across the Emirate.

He reaffirmed SEWA’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety in its meter systems to boost network reliability and customer satisfaction.
