Sharjah24: The joint committee between Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) and Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) held its first meeting to discuss and deliberate on the necessary measures to enhance the culture of environmental conservation and sustainability. They agreed to coordinate and hold joint meetings to implement a specific plan to swiftly assess the energy and water consumption conditions in 13 schools and the requirements for conservation within the framework of the Green Schools project.
Rashid Al Marzouqi, the Corporate Communications Manager at Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, emphasized that the authority provides full support to the joint committee to achieve its goals and offers the necessary technical support to evaluate the schools' conditions and take actions to conserve energy and water.

He affirmed that forming the committee aligns with the authority's commitment to take all technical and awareness measures to conserve energy and water, instill a culture of conservation among all societal groups, preserve energy and water from wastage, and utilize them optimally. Schools are considered beacons of knowledge and enlightenment, activating their role in raising awareness on the importance of conservation to benefit from their leading role in society in terms of guidance, education, and upbringing for future generations.

During the meeting, the committee's objectives and work mechanisms were defined. Awareness sessions will be organized for students, teachers, and staff at all schools to raise awareness about the importance of sustainability and proper environmental practices. A specialized team will be formed to visit the selected schools to evaluate and review the practices related to energy and water consumption, waste management, use of renewable resources, and to prepare necessary recommendations to enhance their sustainability.

He added that this committee will significantly contribute to enhancing the Green Schools project, making it a model to be emulated in conserving consumption and preserving the environment.
