Sharjah 24: Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) has closed out the academic year with three international accreditations landing almost together. The city earned CARF International accreditation for its programmes and services for the third year running, alongside ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management and ISO 37000 for corporate governance. All three followed a full round of assessments and audits that confirmed SCHS's institutional systems meet leading global standards.

A year stacked with wins

The accreditations capped a year that already had plenty to show for it. Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, President of SCHS, took first place in the Leaders category at the Emirates Award for the Creativity of People of Determination, run by the Emirates Association for Creativity. SCHS students also turned in strong results across sports competitions, and the city picked up a shield of honour among the organisations taking part in the marine sports festival for people of determination, hosted by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club.

Partnership network

SCHS kept building out its web of relationships with government, private and academic bodies at home and abroad, signing memorandums of understanding and agreements with leading institutions over the course of the year. A further round of cooperation agreements focused on developing services and specialised projects, with an eye on expanding training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities and supporting their integration into society.

Delegations from five countries

The city's regional and international profile grew too, with specialised delegations and exchange visits bringing in organisations working in disability and rehabilitation from across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, France and the United States. SCHS also worked alongside government bodies and academic and research institutions to trade expertise and sharpen professional practice in the field.

Governance and recognition

On the governance side, SCHS secured official accreditation from the Sharjah Private Education Authority and the National Qualifications Centre as a body authorised to award national qualifications. Sheikha Jameela was separately granted permanent honorary membership by Inclusion International for 2025, recognition for what the organisation described as her pioneering work empowering people with intellectual disabilities and defending their rights both in the UAE and internationally.

Sheikha Jameela: "An important milestone"

Sheikha Jameela described the accreditations as an important milestone in the city's history, one that reflects an institutional approach built around quality, excellence and governance and a humanitarian system that keeps people at its centre.

She said the CARF accreditation, together with the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 37000 certifications, crowns continuous efforts to develop the city's services in line with the best global standards and confirms its commitment to building an institutional system capable of responding to the needs of people with disabilities and their families efficiently and sustainably.

"We're proud of this achievement, which is the result of the efforts of every team and our strategic partners," she said. "We see it as motivation to keep developing and innovating, and to strengthen cooperation locally, regionally and internationally — cementing SCHS's position as a leading centre for humanitarian, educational and rehabilitative services, and supporting the leading role of Sharjah and the UAE in this field."
