Sharjah24: The Sharjah Police General Command, represented by the Eastern Region Police Department, organised a discussion session this morning titled "Weather Conditions and Climate Crises: Challenges and Solutions." The session aimed to address the recent weather conditions experienced in the Eastern Region and propose future solutions to deal with these crises.
The session was attended by Colonel Dr. Ali Al Kai Al Hamoudi, Director of the Eastern Region Police Department at the Sharjah Police, his deputy Colonel Rashid Saif Al Zaabi, Engineer Abdulrahman Al Naqbi, Director of Khorfakkan Municipality, Colonel Sultan Saeed Al Shehhi, Director of the Civil Defense Department in the Eastern Region, Dr. Salem Makhlouf Al Naqbi, Director of Emergency Housing Management, and Ahmed Nasser Khamis Al Naqbi, Director of the Social Services Department, Khorfakkan Branch. Several directors and officials from the concerned entities in the cities of the Eastern Region (Khorfakkan, Kalba, Dibba Al-Hisn) also participated, along with a group of officers and specialists in the field.
The session began with a short film showcasing the significant efforts made by the concerned authorities in the Eastern Region to deal with the previous low-pressure weather system, highlighting the tireless work to serve residents and the coordinated efforts among all entities in the region.
Following the film, Dr. Ali Al Kai delivered a welcome speech, emphasising the importance of joint efforts in addressing challenges. He noted that such discussion sessions provide a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and expertise among all concerned parties, enhancing collaborative efforts in crisis management.
He stressed the importance of adopting a proactive approach in developing solutions and anticipating potential risks to enable the relevant authorities to address these challenges efficiently. He also stated that the Sharjah Police General Command continually seeks to strengthen cooperation with all concerned entities and strategic partners to ensure the highest levels of excellence in operations and the protection of public safety and security.
The sessions included discussions and productive exchanges on the efforts made in response to the recent low-pressure weather event, highlighting the key lessons learned and the practical steps taken to address these challenges. The discussion focused on three main areas: evacuation procedures, management of shelters, and water drainage operations. A range of solutions and proposals were also presented for consideration and potential implementation in future events that could impact the region.
