Sharjah Basketball Championship kicks off on September 5

Sharjah24: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, the Sharjah Sports Council, in collaboration with Jam Sports Academy and Al Bataeh Cultural and Sports Club, is hosting the fifth edition of the Sharjah International Basketball Championship for Men.
The event will take place from 5 to 10 September at Al Bataeh Club Stadium Hall and will feature the participation of six teams: Hoops of Lebanon, Al Fateh of Saudi Arabia, Dijlah of Iraq, Al Arabi of Kuwait, and Sharjah and Al Bataeh from the Emirates. 

The tournament has garnered significant success in its previous iterations, fostering meaningful engagement among participating teams. Notably, the inaugural edition was clinched by the Lebanese team Champville, followed by Sharjah securing victory in the second edition. The third edition saw Al-Nasr of Saudi Arabia emerge as the champions, with Sharjah reclaiming the title in the fourth edition. Additionally, a new logo was introduced to encapsulate the tournament's unique identity.

Mohammed Obaid Al Hussan, Director of the Sports Affairs and Development Department, emphasized the championship's status as a permanent annual fixture among international championships in the emirate, with the unwavering support and direct oversight of the Chairman of the Council, Issa Hilal Al-Hazami. The championship's significance and technical value were underscored by the intense competition among participating teams and the advancements made by Sharjah clubs at the event.

Al Hussan emphasized that each of the participating teams carries significant importance. He noted that the teams are categorized into two groups and proceed to the final rounds, with the top three teams being awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals.
