Sharjah24: The Sharjah Sports Council has wrapped up the tenth edition of the Sharjah Summer Sports programme, "Our Holiday is Different," held from July 1 to August 1. This year’s event saw participation from at least 2,793 members across 16 sports and specialty clubs. Participants, aged between 7-12 and 13-17 years, engaged in over 1,225 diverse activities during the program.
The five-week programme featured a mix of entertainment, educational, religious, and sports activities, along with community events, competitions, workshops, external visits, and trips. These activities not only provided enjoyment but also fostered enthusiasm, competitiveness, and collective participation while discovering talents in various fields. An award ceremony will later honour the top three sports and specialty clubs, based on evaluations by the committee that visited all participating clubs this year.

Issa Hilal Al-Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, praised the programme’s success and emphasised the importance of its annual organisation, aligning with the visions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs. He highlighted the significance of supporting this age group by offering opportunities to invest the summer break in meaningful activities and hobbies.

He noted that the event successfully achieved its goal, evidenced by the enthusiastic participation seen across various activities and club visits. His Excellency also commended the families for their eagerness to enroll their children in the programme, which contributed significantly to its success through their engagement and encouragement. He expressed gratitude to all collaborating entities and institutions that helped make the programme a success, alongside the organising committee.

Al-Hazami concluded, “We are delighted with our accomplishments in this programme, which takes on a different theme each week. ‘Our Holiday is Different’ is more than just a seasonal event; it is a series of beneficial programmes that help discover and nurture talents. It achieves its annual goal and stands out as one of the most distinguished events in the emirate focused on youth development.”

Participating clubs in the tenth edition included Mleiha, Sharjah Sports, Al Dhaid, Al Hamriya, Al Batayeh, Dibba Al-Hisn, Khorfakkan, Al Madam, Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled, Sharjah Old Cars Club, Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, Wadi Al Hilo Ladies Club, and Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club.
