Sharjah 24: A delegation from the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), headed by Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Council, visited the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA) on Thursday, 20 August, to discuss avenues for joint cooperation and enhance collaboration in the coming period, particularly regarding media coverage of the Council’s various championships and events.

The cooperation aims to enrich the culture of promoting sports in the Emirate and contribute to supporting and developing its sports and media sectors.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed Obaid Al Hassani Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Council; Mohammed Ali bin Hammad, Director of the Support Services Department; Zakia Suhail Al Musharrekh, Director of the Government Communication Department; and Khalid Mohammed, Head of the Department’s Public Relations Section. Representing the Authority were Salem Al Ghaithi, Director-General; Mohammed Majid Al Suwaidi, Director of Sharjah Sports Channel; Ismail Al Hosani, Director of Al Sharqiya from Kalba Channel; Saeed bin Fadel Al Ketbi, Director of Al Wusta from Al Dhaid Channel; Abdul Rahim Al Hammadi, Programme Director at Sharjah Sports Channel; and Ahmed Sultan, Events Director at Sharjah Sports Channel.

The meeting discussed various aspects of media cooperation to contribute to the continued development of the sports sector in general, cover sports activities and events, and showcase the emirate’s sporting capabilities. Sharjah is home to the largest number of sports and specialised clubs in the UAE. Media coverage by the Authority would also strengthen the Council’s strategic role and help achieve its objectives of raising the emirate’s profile in sports. The meeting also included an introduction to the Authority’s programmes and channels and the possibility of hosting activities and events on them.

Authority officials thanked the Council’s delegation for the fruitful visit, which reaffirmed the continued cooperation and coordination between the two sides in support of their shared objectives and the public interest.
