Sharjah 24: His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH), witnessed, on Thursday, a joint meeting that included a number of government entities in Sharjah and a group of Chinese officials.
The meeting aimed to follow up on the implementation of the outcomes of the government delegation’s visit to the People’s Republic of China, which took place early last June, and to discuss future means of cooperation.
The meeting, hosted by the House of Wisdom in Sharjah, was attended by Her Excellency Aisha Deemas, Director General of the Sharjah Museums Authority, Xiuhuan Gao, Head of Marketing in Asia, presenting Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), and Amjad Al Qaseer, Executive Director of Cultural Diplomacy at the Department of Government Relations in Sharjah. From the House of Wisdom, Meera Al Naqbi, Head of Awareness and Director of Government Relations, and Fatima Al Mahmoud, Director of Cultural Planning, participated.
From the Chinese side, the meeting was attended by Liu Yang, Director of the China Cultural Centre in Abu Dhabi, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in China, Yuan Jiguang, Third Secretary at the Chinese Embassy in the UAE, and Lu Jing, Project Manager at the China Cultural Centre in the country.
In this context, His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH), explained that holding the meeting confirms the keenness of the government entities that participated in the recent visit to China to activate the outcomes and recommendations resulting from the visit, in cooperation with the relevant authorities in China.
This includes activating cooperation agreements and memoranda of companies that were concluded in a number of economic, cultural, heritage and research fields, and implementing joint initiatives related to publishing, translation and traditional arts with the aim of preserving the intangible cultural heritage of both sides, in addition to scientific cooperation programmes with Chinese research centres, universities and academic institutions, along with exchanging expertise in the field of museum displays and events and caring for living human treasures.
Al Musallam praised the great interest shown by the participants in the meeting to play an influential role in moving towards more diverse and broader areas and horizons in cooperation and partnership between the two sides, in a way that contributes to the success of joint collective efforts and the implementation of real initiatives to achieve the desired goals.
