Bin Aamer witnesses activities of International Prisoners' Day

Sharjah24: The General Command of the Sharjah Police, represented by the Penal and Correctional Institution Department, marked the International Prisoners' Day, which falls on July 18 of each year, at the headquarters of the Penal Institution in Sharjah. This annual initiative embodies the highest humanitarian values and the approach followed by the Sharjah Police, which aims to enhance the rights of inmates and improve their living conditions.
The ceremony was attended by Brigadier General Ahmed Haji Al-Sarkal - Director General of Police Operations, and Colonel Abdullah Rashed Alai - Acting Director of the Penal and Correctional Institution Department, in addition to some partners, namely: the Department of Social Services, the Arabic Language Complex, the Sharjah Charity Association, the Sharjah Museums Authority, and from the Ministry of Interior: the Human Rights Department, and a number of directors of departments and officers and families of inmates.

Brigadier General Abdullah bin Aamer emphasized that this day represents the commitment of the Sharjah Police to human rights, especially the rights of inmates in penal and correctional institutions, and added that the penal institutions in the country work to provide a safe and healthy environment for the inmates, which gives them the opportunity for reform and reintegration into society.

After that, Brigadier General Abdullah bin Aamer toured the events organized by the success partners, as activities were presented that reflect the cultural diversity inherited from various countries through the participation of the inmates, which gave the event an interactive and distinctive character.

For his part, Colonel Abdullah Rashed Alai said: "The activities of the International Prisoners' Day seek to shed light on the importance of providing the necessary support to inmates at all levels," and he indicated that the Penal Institution is keen to implement distinguished educational and training programs aimed at rehabilitating inmates and equipping them with the necessary skills for a new fruitful life after release.

At the end of the activities of the International Prisoners' Day, Brigadier General bin Aamer honored the partners who played a pivotal role in the success of the event.
