Sharjah24: The Department of Awqaf (Endowments) has recently unveiled a new location for the "Aqrab (Nearer)" initiative at the Al Qarayen Walkway. This addition complements the current sites at Al Mahatta Park, Muweilah Park, and the Wasit Nature Reserve Walkway.
The "Aqrab" initiative, which is part of the Water Charity Endowment and aims to distribute free water in community activity areas, recently secured first place in the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work under the government entities category. Since its inception in July 2022 through May 2024, the initiative has made notable achievements, serving approximately 1,148,904 beneficiaries. Additionally, 4,973 volunteers have contributed their time in partnership with the Sharjah Volunteer Centre, accumulating a total of 9,965 volunteer hours.
