Afraa Salem, Director of Kuwait Hospital Sharjah, stressed the importance of the nursing profession and the fundamental role it plays in providing integrated healthcare, pointing out the humanitarian virtues that the profession carries and the great services it provides to society. The forum focused on informing nursing staff of the latest developments related to the nursing profession in Various clinical and administrative specialties and improving the quality of performance to ensure the provision of better services to patients.
Salem pointed to the great development witnessed by the health services sector in the UAE, where the nursing profession has achieved qualitative leaps in terms of the diversity of specialisations, attracting competencies, and focusing on scientific developments and principles of continuing education, which contributed to the development of the nursing staff working in different locations. Salem added that Emirates Health Services (EHS) pays special attention to the nursing profession and constantly seeks to raise performance and improve all workers skills.
For her part, Maryam Abdel Qader, Head of the Nursing Department at Kuwait Hospital Sharjah, expressed her appreciation for the great efforts made by the nursing staff, stressing the importance of healthcare provided by nurses, noting that this occasion provides an ideal opportunity to express thanks and appreciation to all nursing staff. She also stressed the importance of continuous monitoring of global developments in the nursing profession in order to achieve the desired development.
Maryam Abdel Qader indicated that the event aims to emphasise the pivotal role played by nursing staff in providing the highest level of healthcare to patients, noting that this will remain the primary motivation for continuing to adopt the best international practices in healthcare by focusing on continuing medical education based on evidence.
The event included a video presentation entitled “The Economic Power of Our Care” and two theatrical performances entitled “Nursing is a Hidden Gem” and “Our Nursing is Our Future”, in addition to a short film expressing thanks, appreciation and congratulations to the nursing staff. The event also included the honouring of distinguished performers who have completed 25 years of service.
At the conclusion of the forum, Afraa Salem expressed her thanks and gratitude to the nursing staff for their continuous efforts in providing high-quality health services, stressing the importance of focusing on quality in providing health services and patient care, in a way that reflects the civilized face of the UAE and the humanitarian side of this noble profession.
