Sharjah 24: Sultan bin Harib Al Muhairi, Vice Chairman of Al Hamriyah Fishing Cooperative Society, expressed his delight at launching “Al Hamriyah Fisher Competition” initiative, aimed at young people aged 13 to 18, with the goal of teaching them the fundamentals of the fishing profession linked to the heritage of their forefathers.

Competition structure

Al Muhairi explained to “Sharjah 24” that the competition is divided into four stages: it begins with an introduction to various fishing methods, followed by a stage on understanding wind patterns, then learning about different fish species, and concludes with a practical application at sea to assess participants’ skills.

Acknowledgements

He concluded by thanking the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority and Al Hamriyah Municipality for their ongoing support and encouragement of youth participation in preserving this authentic profession.
