The association’s participation came through the implementation of a series of field and awareness initiatives that focused on supporting mothers at the beginning of their journey and providing environments that enable them to make informed and stable health decisions.
The initiatives included visits to several hospitals across the UAE, where educational materials were distributed and direct support was provided to mothers. Community activities included lighting the Sharjah Airport Bridge and the facade of the House of Wisdom in the global green color, a symbolic message expressing the emirate's solidarity with children's right to natural nutrition and reflecting Sharjah's commitment to supporting maternal issues.
The initiatives also included preparing awareness lectures for mothers and those interested in breastfeeding, delivered by a group of doctors and breastfeeding consultants. They also included coordinating television and radio interviews to discuss the importance of breastfeeding and World Breastfeeding Week. They also included organizing field visits to a number of hospitals and clinics to raise awareness among mothers, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers, and distributing specialized educational publications on maternal and child health and breastfeeding.
Engineer Khawla Al Noman, President of the Breastfeeding Friends Association, praised the fruits of these efforts in consolidating awareness messages, stressing that the association continues to fulfill its role as a community reference that promotes healthy mothers' choices.
The conclusion of Breastfeeding Week affirms that Sharjah views breastfeeding support as a developmental responsibility linked to quality of life, investment in future generations, and building a more aware and cohesive society.
