The last day featured a series of interactive workshops combining art and skill, most notably the “My Candle” workshop, where children crafted colourful candles bearing their personal touch, and the “Little Farmer” workshop, which gave them the chance to plant seeds and care for plants—a symbolic message about nurturing dreams just as one tends to young seedlings.
The event concluded with a ceremony honouring the participants, where His Excellency Abu Bakr Al Kindi, Director of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, presented each child with the “Explorer’s Medal” in recognition of their dedication and creative spirit, amid applause from the audience and proud smiles from parents sharing the moment with their children.
His Excellency Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, praised the success of the fourth edition of the Narrator Summer Camp, affirming that it provided a rich space for children to discover heritage and folklore, develop their creative skills in an educational and interactive environment, and that the participants’ creations and ideas reflected a strong sense of belonging to cultural heritage and the importance of investing in the younger generations.
He added that the camp served as a preparatory step towards the launch of the 25th edition of the Sharjah International Narrator Forum, by preparing a generation capable of engaging with heritage in modern ways and contributing to its preservation and transmission to the future with a renewed spirit. He also noted the Institute’s commitment to further developing its children’s programmes to ensure the sustainability of this cultural approach.
For her part, Aisha Al Hossan Al Shamsi, Director of the Arabian Heritage Centre, expressed her pride in what the children had achieved during the camp, saying: “Every workshop was a story, and every child’s laughter was a new chapter in the book of their memories. In this camp, we weren’t just teaching them—we were learning from them how to tell the story in a new way, and how heritage can remain alive in their hearts. We are not only building artistic skills, we are creating a generation of young storytellers who will carry the legacy of the UAE into the future.”
Over its course, “Narrator Summer Camp” offered a range of workshops and activities in handicrafts, visual arts, recycling, and model-making, aiming to develop children’s skills and refine their abilities in an enjoyable educational environment that reflects Sharjah’s vision of preserving heritage and passing it on to future generations.
