Ibn Amer attends launch of SP Ramadan Sports Championship

Sharjah24: Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, attended the launch of the 31st annual Ramadan Sports Championship organized by the Sports and Social Activities Department of the Public Relations and Media Administration at Sharjah Police Club.
More than five hundred players from the police's various departments competed in the competition, together with staff members from Al Qasimi Hospital and the Sharjah Social Services Department.

The launch of the championship was attended by Brigadier Sami Al Nuaimi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defense; Brigadier Ahmed Al Sarkal, Director General of Police Operations; Brigadier Dr. Ahmed Al Nawaar, Director General of Central Operations; and Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Khamees Al Athmani, Director General of the Police Sciences Academy, along with their deputies, department directors, senior officers, and members of the organizing committee. The championship will continue until the 19th of Ramadan.

The Ramadan championship includes various sports competitions such as volleyball, table tennis, football, tug of war, and swimming (50 to 100 meters). Additionally, there are competitions for women, including archery, air rifle shooting, and table tennis.

The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police emphasized that the aim of organizing this annual Ramadan sports event is to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and communication among the police personnel of different ranks. It also aims to promote healthy competition that fosters unity among the police family, including officers, non-commissioned officers, and personnel. He urged the players to maintain sportsmanship as the common factor, the main motivation, and the driving force behind their participation in the matches and competitions.

The opening day featured two football matches, with the General Directorate of Police Operations playing against the General Directorate of the Police Academy, resulting in a 4-0 victory for the General Directorate of Police Operations. The second match was between Sharjah Civil Defense and the General Directorate of Central Operations, with Sharjah Civil Defense winning 1-0.

In volleyball, the first match of Group A was held between the General Directorate of Central Operations and the Amiri Guard, with the General Directorate of Central Operations winning two sets to none. In Group B, the match was between the General Directorate of Police Operations and the Eastern Region Directorate, with the General Directorate of Central Operations winning two sets to one.
