Sharjah24: The 33rd edition of Sharjah Theatre Days is launching on March 2nd under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The event will see the involvement of 12 Arabic theatrical presentations.
Fawaghi Al Fardan, the Events Officer in the Theater Department at the Department of Culture, stated that the 33rd edition of Sharjah Theater Days is set to begin from March 2nd to March 9th.The festival kicks off with the play "Taknaza.. The Story of Tawda," which received the award for the best Arabic theatrical work from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
In exclusive statements to "Sharjah 24," Al-Fardan revealed that the opening ceremony will honour Omani artist Fakhriya Khamees with the Sharjah Award for Arab Theatrical Creativity, and Emirati artist Abdullah Rashid as the "Honoured Local Personality." Furthermore, Amin Nasoor, the director of the Moroccan production, will be presented with the Ruler of Sharjah's Award.
Al Fardan conveyed that the 33rd edition will witness intense competition, featuring 7 selected theatrical performances chosen by the viewing and classification committee. The judging panel comprises experts and artists from the Arab world, including Walid Al Zaabi, Masoud Bouhsein, and others.
She emphasised the accompanying events, such as a symposium titled "Theatrical Direction Between Influence and Impact," and a meeting for the top graduates of Arab theatre institutes and colleges. The programme encompasses seminars and discussions with distinguished artists, concluding on March 9th with the announcement of the award winners at the Sharjah Cultural Palace.
