Sharjah24: Aligned with the UAE Theatrical Association's plans to celebrate and support creative individuals through skill development and enriching experiences, a sponsored delegation, comprised of recent winners from the Dubai Youth Theatre Festival, is gearing up for a trip to Baghdad, Iraq. Their mission: to attend and observe the fourteenth edition of the Arab Theatre Festival, scheduled from January 10 to 18, 2024.
This decision stems from resolutions made during the association's general assembly held last summer. Following the success of sponsoring winners from the Sharjah Theatre Days to the International Cairo Festival for Experimental Theatre, the association is continuing its initiative to provide exposure, observation, interaction with fellow artists, and learning opportunities from both Arab and international theatrical experiences.
Ismail Abdullah, Chairman of the Theatrical Association, emphasised, "Our aim is to enrich the tools and experiences of creators actively engaged in the local theatre scene. This is achievable through exposure, observation, and understanding others' experiences via analysis, interpretation, and critical discussions facilitated by intellectual and practical seminars in theatrical festivals."
He added, "The Arab Theatre Festival, with its diverse performances and knowledge sources, will meet our creators' needs as they engage with prominent figures in theatre and witness the best Arab productions of 2023, all in one location."
This annual initiative continues, with plans to send winners of the UAE Children's Theatre Festival to participate in a specialised children's theatre festival, with details to be determined later this month.
