Sharjah 24: The Sharjah National Theatre presented “Zaghanbot” at the Al Rasheed Theatre in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Sunday, as part of the activities of the 14th edition of the Arab Theatre Festival, authored by Ismail Abdullah and directed by Mohammed Al Ameri.
Emirati director Mohammed Al Ameri expressed his happiness with the Arab audience’s response to his play “Zaghanbot,” pointing out that the troupe has a great responsibility towards Emirati theatre, especially after winning the Sultan Al Qasimi Award for Best Arab Theatrical Work in the last edition, in addition to performing in front of a large Arab audience who wants to know, through the theatrical performance, where Emirati theatre has reached.
Al Ameri added, in statements to "Sharjah 24", that this is his ninth participation in the Arab Theatre Festival, with great support from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and His Highness's constant follow-up of every detail of the festival, as he seeks to raise the level of Arab theatre until it reaches greater and more distant horizons.
“Zaghanbot” won the award for the best integrated show in the thirty-second edition of Sharjah Theatre Days. The show also won awards for best direction by Mohammed Al Ameri, best dramaturge by Ismail Abdullah, best décor, best lighting, best make-up, and best costumes, in addition to the best sound and musical effects.
