Sharjah 24: The twelfth meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Arabic Language Education Centre for the Gulf States (ALECGS), a branch of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, convened. on Tuesday, at its Sharjah headquarters within the current 2023/2024 session.
The meeting, attended by representatives from member countries of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, was chaired by Badria Ali Al Marzouqi, an Arabic language curriculum specialist at the Ministry of Education in the UAE and the current head of the Board of Trustees. Dr. Issa Saleh Al Hammadi, the Director of ALECGS, was also present.
Badria Ali Al Marzouqi initiated the meeting by extending a welcome to the esteemed members and expressing gratitude to them. She commended the collaborative efforts of the Board of Trustees in supporting the centre's initiatives during the ongoing session.
Dr. Issa Saleh Al Hammadi expressed appreciation for the considerable interest and efforts invested in supporting the meeting. He provided an overview of the agenda for the eleventh meeting, including a review of the minutes, recommendations, and decisions implemented.
Dr. Al Hammadi then presented a report on the accomplishments during the current session (15th May to 18th December 2023), covering ten implemented programmes. He also highlighted additional activities and programmes undertaken during the session, such as new publications, two conferences, participation in seven international conferences, involvement in four international exhibitions, organisation of five seminars, participation in four others, and various community events and international meetings.
The presentation also addressed the procedures for the Arabic Language Competency Programme (Munahazat) - the fifth session, involving the formation of a scientific committee, the development of a mechanism for test question composition and correction, the creation of a guide, and the updating of documents and regulations related to the programme. The date for Munahazat Programme - the fifth session 2024 was set for 17th to 21st February 2024.
