Sharjah 24: The University of Sharjah (UOS), in cooperation with the University of Lübeck in Germany, celebrated the graduation of a cohort from their joint doctoral programme in molecular medicine during a ceremony held in Lübeck.
The event was attended by Dr Zainab Al Sharif, Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies of the College of Medicine, while the University of Lübeck was represented by its president, Prof. Helge Braun, along with several academic and administrative officials and programme supervisors.
The four-year programme stands as a model of academic and research partnership between the two universities. It awards graduates a joint doctorate from the University of Sharjah and the University of Lübeck and includes a period of study and research at the University of Lübeck to complete the academic requirements for the degree. Moreover, it is designed to prepare qualified researchers in molecular medicine, equipping them with advanced knowledge and research skills that contribute to the development of medical sciences and the advancement of scientific research in line with the highest international academic standards.
The graduation ceremony featured an official address by Prof. Helge Braun, as well as remarks by several academic leaders and programme supervisors, all of whom emphasised the importance of scientific collaboration between universities and its role in preparing research talent capable of meeting future challenges in the health sector. For her part, Dr Zainab Al Sharif commented that the programme embodies the outstanding academic and research partnership between the two universities and contributes to preparing qualified research talent capable of advancing medical sciences and strengthening the research ecosystem.
Four researchers graduated from the programme: Nawal Al Kutbi, Rania Al Hakim, Lina Sachnoon, and Salam Dek Al Bab. They joined the university’s general graduation ceremony in Lübeck alongside graduates of other graduate programmes.
The graduates expressed their gratitude to the University of Sharjah for providing them with a supportive academic and research environment, praising the fruitful cooperation between the two universities, which gave them exceptional opportunities to learn and conduct scientific research in an international academic setting, according to the highest global standards.
