Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Police's Anti-Drug Unit successfully dismantled an international criminal gang, comprising 32 suspects from Asian and Arab backgrounds, in a significant operation named "Unveiling."
This group had attempted to smuggle narcotics and over a million psychoactive pills, valued at approximately 14 million dirhams, into the country through a neighbouring nation. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the security entities of that neighbouring country.

To provide more details, Lieutenant Colonel Majed Al Asam, Director of the Drugs Enforcement Department of Sharjah Police, shared that they received credible information about the existence of an international criminal network planning to import narcotics for distribution and trafficking within the country.

After verifying the information, the Sharjah Police initiated surveillance and investigation operations. Based on evidence and continuous monitoring, they apprehended one member of the criminal gang, who was found in possession of 50 kilograms of hashish and 49 liters of liquid crystal.

It was revealed that they were receiving instructions from an individual residing outside the country. Further investigations exposed the nature of the widespread criminal network spanning across countries, with other parties linked to the same criminal gang. They had established a covert storage facility in one of the neighbouring emirates for storing illicit substances.

Through a well-executed plan, the Sharjah Police managed to apprehend the remaining members of the criminal gang and seized 1,170,000 psychoactive pills.

The Director of the Drugs Enforcement Department emphasised that Sharjah Police will continue its proactive efforts against drug traffickers and their trade, relying on the expertise of its personnel and strong security measures. They will remain updated with the latest methods and modern techniques for combating organised crime and will remain vigilant against anyone attempting to disrupt the community's security and stability.

The Sharjah Police encourages the community to cooperate in safeguarding society, especially the youth, from the dangers of drugs by reporting any suspicious incidents through the toll-free number 8004654 or via email at [email protected].
