Sharjah 24: Employee and World Olympic Champion Mohammed Al Qayid Al Hammadi was honoured by the Sharjah Sports Council following his achievement and winning silver medals in the 400-metre and 800-metre events at the recent World Paralympic Games in Paris, qualifying him to compete for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the Summer Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024.
Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Council, the directors of departments and heads of departments, and staff were present at the event to welcome Al Qayid and offer their heartfelt congratulations on his accomplishments.
During his speech, Al Hazami congratulated the world champion, the leader, and noted that the leader's success is due in large part to the unlimited interest of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, "the advocate of the disabled," and his directives to sponsor sports and athletes.
The foundation for success is His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, with his great interest in athletes, and then the care of the Sharjah Sports Council and their keenness to supply all necessities," Al Qayid said in his thank-you speech to the council and its president.
