Al Thiqah Club joins Asia’s Paralympic gathering in Astana

Sharjah 24: Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled is taking part in the Asian Paralympic Conference and the Asian General Assembly, hosted in Astana, Kazakhstan, until 14 August 2025. The event features the participation of more than 40 national Paralympic committees from across Asia, alongside leading representatives from international Paralympic sports federations and organisations. The gathering reflects the club’s leadership role on the continental sports scene.

This is the largest event of its kind in Asia in terms of official participation and the significance of the topics discussed. It serves as a pivotal platform for exchanging expertise, exploring ways to develop Paralympic sports, and strengthening cooperation among national committees and organisations that support and empower people of determination. It also offers opportunities to share insights on best organisational practices, rehabilitation programmes, and strategies to raise the level of competition and achievements regionally and globally.

Extending efforts to empower UAE champions

This participation builds on the club’s ongoing efforts to support the Paralympic movement and reinforce its role as a key driver in empowering UAE champions of determination. By expanding opportunities to engage in sports decision-making, the club aims to shape the future of Paralympic sports across the continent. It also reflects the club’s vision to strengthen the UAE’s impactful presence both regionally and globally, cementing the nation’s position as a leading hub for nurturing talent and achieving exceptional sporting successes.

Al Thiqah Club’s involvement comes through an official invitation from the President of the Asian Paralympic Committee, reaffirming the club’s prominent standing in the Asian sports arena and its vital role in developing the sports ecosystem for people of determination.

The club is represented at the event by Mohammed Abdullah Al Qaed Al Hammadi, Board Member and Acting Executive Director, underscoring its commitment to active participation in major Paralympic forums.

In a statement, Al Hammadi said the club’s involvement in this key continental gathering is part of its strategic commitment to enhancing the UAE’s presence in international sports and organisational platforms. He described the event as a golden opportunity to exchange successful experiences, build influential partnerships, and advance sports programmes for people of determination.
