Sharjah 24: Al Khalidiyah Suburb Council, under the Sharjah Districts and Villages Affairs Department (SDVAD), is actively engaged in raising awareness within the community about efforts to safeguard children's well-being and nurture them in a supportive environment that respects their rights.
Recently, the council hosted an educational campaign on child protection, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior's Child Protection Centre and the University of Umm Al Quwain. The event took place, on Thursday, at the council's headquarters in Sharjah.
This initiative reflects the council's commitment to fulfilling its social responsibilities, partnering with relevant authorities to enlighten the suburb's residents about maintaining overall security and safety within the area.
The campaign was graced by the presence of His Excellency Khalfan Saeed Khalfan Al Marri, Chairman of Al Khalidiyah Suburb Council, and Mohammed Rashid bin Grash, Vice Chairman of Al Khalidiyah Suburb Council. Representatives from the University of Umm Al Quwain, namely Professor Dr. Haitham Al Samra'i, Dean of the College of Mass Communication, and Dr. Hany Bakr, Vice Chancellor of the University, also participated.
During the event, participants were introduced to the Ministry of Interior's Child Protection Centre, followed by a comprehensive explanation of the "Wadima" Child Rights Law, the role of child protection specialists, and the protocols for addressing child-related concerns.
The campaign distributed informative pamphlets containing details about the Ministry of Interior's Child Protection Centre. Additionally, attendees received valuable insights into effective psychological, behavioural, and social approaches in nurturing children, ensuring their protection, and shielding them from negative influences that may lead to academic disengagement, social anxieties, or feelings of isolation.
In appreciation of their efforts in organising this significant event, the lecturers, representatives from the University of Umm Al Quwain, and Al Khalidiyah Suburb Council were duly honoured with certificates of appreciation and commemorative shields.
