Sharjah 24: The Health Affairs, Labour and Social Affairs Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) reviewed a draft law regulating the Sharjah Social Services Department, referred by the Sharjah Executive Council as a matter of urgency.
The meeting, which was held SCC headquarters, in Sharjah, on Thursday, was attended by Her Excellency Moza Matar Dalmuk, His Excellency Daghish Rashid Al Ketbi, His Excellency Obaid Mohammed Al Adab, Her Excellency Asira Butti Al Qaidi, and His Excellency Saif bin Ruwaijda Al Ketbi, in addition to the Legal Adviser to the Council, Youssef Hassan Al Ali, and Abdulaziz bin Khadim, Deputy Director of Sessions and Committees Affairs Department and Saif bin Suef Al Ketbi, Secretary of the Committee.
During the meeting, the committee discussed the articles of the draft law, which lead to ruling articles to explore aspects of the work of the Sharjah Social Services Department in its fields of work in the cities and regions of the Emirate of Sharjah.
The committee reviewed and discussed the functions and roles of the Sharjah Social Services Department to provide social welfare and a decent life for individuals and families in the community, and enhancing cohesion between individuals, families and institutions within the framework of its aims and objectives.
A number of articles of the draft law were reviewed and discussed. The committee expressed its opinion on the different objectives organising the Department, playing an important role in providing support, subsidies, and social assistance to the beneficiaries in accordance with the approved, regulations, and procedures.
At the end of the meeting, the committee presented its opinion and approved its reports, which it submitted to the Vice-Chairman of the Council for presentation in the next session, after seeking the opinion of the SCC Legislative and Legal Committee.
