Sharjah 24: In the third episode of "Messages for Health in Ramadan," which airs every Tuesday and Wednesday during the holy month of Ramadan on "Sharjah 24," Professor Salah Abu Snaina, Head of the Department and Consultant of Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University Hospital in Sharjah, urged diabetics to take certain preventative and necessary steps during the holy month.

When asked about the most crucial procedures, Abu Sneineh said, "One of the most significant of them is checking blood sugar before suhur and two hours after suhur, at midday, before breakfast, and two hours after breakfast." Patients were advised to break their fast if their fasting glucose levels were below 70 milligrams per decilitre.

One of the warning signs for a diabetic patient, he said, is a blood sugar level of 300 milligrams or higher, at which point the fasting individual should break their fast to prevent health concerns including dehydration and blood acidity, which is harmful to the renal and cardiovascular systems.
