Sharjah 24: Afra Al-Mashghuni, a clinical nutrition specialist at the University Hospital in Sharjah, spoke on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle during Ramadan in the fourth episode of the "Messages for Health" programme, which airs on the "Sharjah 24" website every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the holy month of Ramadan. She highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy intake of both water and food.
According to Al-Mashghouni, a healthy lifestyle promotes weight reduction and aids in glucose regulation. Those who want to fast throughout Ramadan should plan their meals accordingly, beginning with the pre-dawn meal and avoiding foods high in salt to prevent dehydration and eating plenty of fatty foods. They should hydrate well and take balanced portions of protein, fruit, and a touch of good fat.
