With the participation of a group of doctors and experts from the University Hospital in Sharjah, Ramadan Health Messages programme is being shown on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Ramadan, to review the most significant health and nutritional practices that must be followed during the holy month.
In the second episode of Healthy Messages in Ramadan, Dr. Ahmed Al-Zayyat, a consultant in rheumatology and joints, highlighted the importance of movement during Ramadan and exposure to sunlight to acquire vitamin D.
Dr. Al-Zayyat urged fasting to exercising as it is one of the healthy habits that reflect positively on human health, affirming that fasting person can exercise a short period of time before Iftar to replace the body with lost fluids and mineral salts as quickly as possible, or after Iftar for a suitable period to digest food efficiently and rest for producing energy.
Dr. Al-Zayyat urged fasting person to continue exercising, because frequent lying down leads to muscle weakness and joint pain.
