Sharjah 24: Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club marked World Environment Day by holding a hands-on tree planting event. Club members came together to take action to protect the environment and add to the green spaces on its grounds.

The slogan “Because It’s Our Home” was to inspire employees, administrators, coaches and players to plant a variety of shrubs and ornamental plants around the club’s grounds, making it not a formal event but a collective moment of participation.

This project is an example of the club’s ongoing commitment to environmental awareness, encouraging a greater emphasis on sustainability and a more meaningful connection to the spaces our community interacts with regularly.

Encouraging environmental responsibility

Engineer Ali Al Muhairi, Board Member of Al Hamriyah Club and Chairman of the Institutional Communication Committee, said the initiative reflects the club's commitment to its social responsibility and its role in encouraging greater awareness of environmental issues.

He emphasised that all members of the community should embrace the values of protecting natural resources and caring for the environment.

More than a beautification project
Al Muhairi added that the initiative contributes to enhancing the appearance of the club's facilities, but its broader purpose is to encourage teamwork, volunteerism, and a sense of shared responsibility among participants.

“Activities like these,” he said, “help build community engagement while encouraging positive environmental practices that can lead to lasting impact beyond the club itself.

Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club marked World Environment Day by launching its “Because It’s Our Home” initiative, bringing together staff, coaches and players to plant greenery across the club’s facilities and promote environmental awareness, sustainability and community responsibility.
