Sharjah 24: Under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented a number of awards for excellence, including the "Sharjah Green Award," which was presented to the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC). Sharjah's Deputy Ruler, Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, awarded the winners at a spectacular event held at the Expo Centre Sharjah.

The "Clubs' Race for Rationalisation" initiative, in which the Council took part, was the first of its kind at the national level in the sports sector in terms of environmental and community practices, and as such the Council rightfully received the award for its efforts in this domain.

The Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Issa Hilal Al-Hazami, was delighted to receive the honour and took the chance to stress that sports' cultural and instructional roles are just as essential as the roles that promote competition. He also emphasised the power of sport, in all its forms, to alter people's habits and perspectives.
