Sharjah24: The Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) organised the Tal Al Zaafaran competition on Sunday, February 19, in Al Dhaid. The event witnessed great success with the participation of 350 members of different ages.
His Excellency Dr. Tariq bin Khadim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Thiqa Club for the Disabled, participated in the race, and witnessed the conclusion and honouring of the winners, Sheikh Mohammed bin Muadhd bin Hoyden, His Excellency Khamis Al Suwaidi, Advisor to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, and His Excellency Salem bin Hoyden, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Club, His Excellency Fahd bin Juma, Vice President of the Athletics Federation, Suhail Suwaidan Al Kaabi, Member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Athletics Federation, Salem Al Ketbi, Executive Director of Al Dhaid Club, and in the presence of Saud Ali Al Rafisa, the owner of the idea of the event.
The race witnessed an exciting competition, and the following are the results of the two categories:
In the 3 km race for the open category for men, Judo Amin came in first place, followed by Maktoum Amin in second place and Ibrahim Al-Khazraji won the third place, and in the same open category for women, Lady Stalin won first place, Asla Souri won second place, and Celine Rousseau won third place.
In the 6 km race, the results were as follows:
In the 6 km race for the open category, Agaba Agri won the first place, followed by Paul Kajango in the second place, and Mustafa Attia won the third place.
On this occasion, His Excellency Issa Hilal praised the distinction of the event, which is the first of the Council's activities, as it came amid great interaction from the contestants who enriched the event with distinguished participation. He pointed out that such events aim to enhance the health and encourage people to adopt it as a way of life.
His Excellency Al-Hazami thanked supporting and sponsoring bodies that contributed to the success of the event, including Sharjah Police , the Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs, Al Dhaid City Municipality, Al Dhaid Club, Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Bee’ah Company, the volunteer program – Support, and the Asaad Sha’ab volunteer team.
