Salem bin Abdulrahman honours ‘Al Wusta Camel Festival’ winners

Sharjah 24: Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office, crowned Sunday afternoon, the winners of the Al Wusta Channel from Al Dhaid Third Camel Festival, organised by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA) on February 24, 25 and 26 at the Sharjah Camel Racing Club‘s racecourse.
Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi congratulated this year's event's winners and praised everyone who participated, both locally and globally.

Saeed Al Ketbi, Director of Al Wusta Channel from Al Dhaid, delivered a speech in which he thanked Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi for his presence and honoring the winners, pointing out that the honor of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah contributed to achieving A major quantum leap in camel racing, especially since the Al Al Wusta Channel from Al Dhaid is entering its third year with great success.

During his address, Matar Ali bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club thanked His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for his unwavering support of all heritage sports and for sponsoring this year's event.

He also expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Head of the Office of His Highness the Ruler for his presence and honouring the festival.

Sheik Salem also honoured the cooperating and sponsoring bodies of the festival represented by the municipal councils and municipalities of Al Dhaid, Al Batayeh, Al Madam, Mleiha, in addition to the Central Region Police, Civil Defence, Sharjah Sports Council, Sharjah Camel Racing Club as well as several media representatives and poets.

The festival, which was launched under the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, following the inauguration of His Highness of the Al Wusta Channel from Al Dhaid’s building in February 2020, aims to spread camel racing as one of the heritage sports that constitute an authentic cultural heritage in the region. Its first and second editions witnessed great success with the wide participation of camel owners from inside and outside the country.

The closing ceremony was attended by Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council; Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority; heads and members of municipal councils, directors of government departments and institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah, dignitaries of the Central Region, and a group of media representatives and camel racing enthusiasts.
