Sharjah 24: The Director of Sharjah Charity International (SCI) in Khorfakkan Adel Saeed Al Naqbi reported that during the course of the year, the association received 988 requests for assistance and approved 938 of them; of those, 875 involved widows, divorcees, orphans, displaced persons, and seniors.
The cost of providing monthly assistance was AED 1.4 million, while the cost of treating 131 medical conditions totalled AED 1.8 million.
The Khorfakkan branch of SCI helped in 201 cases, which led to fines and the settlement of debts totalling about AED 2.6 million and legal penalties.
In addition, the association spent one million dirhams on seasonal campaign programmes and other charitable projects, as well as AED 1.4 million on student support programmes, which included the provision of study aids for 246 students and the payment of tuition fees, and AED 2.5 million on the maintenance and restoration of residential homes for 274 families.
Support from the Khorfakkan administration, as directed by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, is a part of the association's unified work system to promote charitable work in the Emirate of Sharjah and enable deserving groups to rely on themselves.
