Sharjah24: Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture in Sharjah, and Muhammad Ibrahim Al Qasir, Director of Cultural Affairs in the Department, Director of the Sharjah Calligraphy Forum, inaugurated on Tuesday, at the College of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Sharjah , the exhibition "To the Alef " by the Lebanese artist Nada Abdullah.
The exhibition was one of the activities of the 10th edition of the forum as it was attended by Nadia Mahdi Al-Hassani, Dean of the College, and a large number of academics, students and those interested in Arabic calligraphy.
The forum is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and aims to pay attention to Arabic calligraphy as a historical Islamic art, and to highlight its talents and those who work in it.
Al Owais, Al Qaseer, and the attendees toured the exhibition, where they viewed works accomplished by the artist in a remarkable visual language.
The Lebanese artist said that the exhibition is based on the letter Alif within a group of remarkable works, and attempts to explore different types of forms of Arabic calligraphy, and pointed out that "To Alef" is a research project that simulates more than a hundred manuscripts from one era to the eleventh Hijri era.
Nada Abdullah expressed her thanks to Sharjah "as a cultural capital", stressing at the same time that Sharjah is a definition of culture and the arts, as it hosts events, festivals and forums that care and highlight the artist and support her career and her dream.
